Raymond Pisani in NZ

Here is a cool hunt snapshot from one of our customers Raymond Pisani.

Hi Jez when we spoke on the phone at the time of trying to organise this gear you wanted to know how everything worked out so I thought I’d let you know the gun holder on the custom stalker worked well the pack it’s self also worked perfectly. 2 weeks in NZ including a 16km hike into one of our hunting spots fully loaded for 6 days! The return trip out was fully loaded plus 2 tahr skulls and I full tahr skin. Fully loaded is a understatement haha

A bit of a recap from our two-week hunting trip on the South Island of New Zealand.

Week one saw us dropped off at a remote hut, 30km up river. After a few days finding our feet and trying to navigate the hills and terrain, we decided to ditch the hut and fly camp closer to the tops.

Over the following couple of days, we managed to climb high enough to get within reach of the tahr. After watching a few bulls, my brother Dan got it done with our first bull of the trip.

Things had to happen pretty fast, as we had 50mm of rain forecast for the following day and needed to get back across the river and back to the hut for pickup.

Week two saw us hike up river for a 35km return trip. We had an epic five days chasing rutting bull tahr. I managed to take two bulls, the best being a cracking 12-inch bull, which was caped and carried out, along with a nice 11-inch bull with one broken horn.

Dan also got another really nice bull, which he decided to cape for a flat skin to take home.
