As any successful deer hunter will know, the hard work begins after the shot and none more so than in the case of the Sambar hunter, where animals are usually harvested a long way from roads, in tough and steep terrain. The fantastic news is that Moroka.30 has just made the carry out a whole lot easier with the introduction of the Quartermaster Meat Bag.
 
The revolutionary design centres around the heavy duty waist belt that transfers the weight off the shoulders and onto the hips, unlike any others available on the market. The bag is designed to easily accommodate a whole quarter that is simply secured vertically inside the bag by way of an adjustable leg strap which attaches to the hock and keeps the leg upright. The leg strap also cleverly secures the quarter against the body of the hunter to stop it shifting during the carry out and helps to form a rigid frame to the bag. An additional compression strap on the upper outside of the bag can compress any excess on the sides to streamline the bag for the walk out through the bush, and the high visibility blaze orange is an added safety feature during the carry out. The wide, heavy duty PVC shoulder straps spread the minimal load across the shoulders and adjustable sternum strap keeps the shoulder harness snug against the body.
 
The Quartermaster Meat bag is ultra lightweight and easily rolled up to form a compact unit to be kept in the day pack while hunting, and once an animal is harvested the quarters and balance of game meat can be placed in the bag, setting up the hunter for the easiest carry out yet.

Clever meat hauler

I’ve had this pack for a few years now. So good I bought another for a mate. Perfect for day hunts when you’re going light. Just roll it up out of the way until you need it. Can easily carry a full rear quarter and shoulder or backstraps from a sambar. Could easily carry more if you bone the meat out or are fitter/stronger than me. Even though it doesn’t have a frame it’s still surprisingly stable up and down the steep stuff. It’s not a full framed meat hauler but it makes up for that by being so light and packable you dont know it’s there until you need it. I’d also like to say that Moroka.30 are a great company. They had this bag delivered to my door within 2 days of ordering! I’ve bought other things from them and had similar stellar customer service.

Great backup bag

Got a fallow buck and was able to carry all 4 legs and backstraps with bone in. Depending on the animal, you should be able to fit 2 fallow boned out. Definitely recommended but with the full weight of an animal the straps will dig into shoulders, so some shoulder pad covers will help with longer treks back to camp

Have used it as a day pack and a pack for a couple of nights spike camped. Carried out two Sambar legs at a time with it. Worked a treat for everything so far. Very happy with the Quatermaster.

This is a awesome bag it allowed me to carry out a whole fallow deer : 4 legs, back straps and tender loins. the legs were skinned and cut at the knuckles
